As you know, trimester 3
grades will look a little different this year. Grades for report cards should
be entered by June 5 for homeroom teachers and June 8 for specials
teachers. You can begin working on them now as you have time. If you
have families who have not participated in the remote programming, please
reach out to them this week as part of your student contact to let them know that their child will be marked NP, "not
participated" based on their current status. Remind them of the ways they
can participate so they still have the opportunity to receive a “P.” Students
need to have participated for a minimum of 4 weeks to have an overall score of
“P” on their report card.
As I mentioned in my 4.27.20 Phone Cast, there are
four ways that students can receive participation credit:
1.
Google Classroom:
some teachers are uploading
materials from the home learning packets directly into Google Classrooms for
students to complete and submit online. If your child’s teacher is using this
method, you can choose to submit online OR you may choose to complete the paper
packets.
2.
Live Meeting: some teachers are conducting a live
meeting with students through Google Meet. They may ask students to show
completed workbook pages during those sessions.
3.
Pictures: If your child is not participating
in the virtual options above, your child’s teacher may ask parents to take some
photos and submit them over text or email as evidence of student participation.
4.
Conversation:
Your child’s teacher may ask your
child to talk through some of their answers when they are doing a regular phone
check in with your child.
NHA
informed us that every subject will be shown on the Trimester 3 report card, so
teachers will need to put a “P” or “NP” for every subject. Please start
inputting “P” or “NP” into gradebook now. There will be one overall grade for the 8 weeks
of Remote Learning instruction. If a student participated 4 of the 8 weeks,
then they will receive a “P” in every subject. If a student did not participate in 4 of the
8 weeks, then they will receive a “NP” in every subject. 4th-8th grade
teachers must communicate through email or a meeting to identify and list the students
that will be getting an overall NP. Please make sure to share the list with
specials teachers because their grade will be the same as core subjects. We will discuss this further during
our staff meeting.
