Instructional Strategies

We identified the importance of using these three questions when backwards planning and embedding assessment questions into your daily lesson.

Vote With Your Feet is a great instructional strategy when embedding assessment questions into your lessons by having students demonstrate their choice in a multiple-choice question by posting answers/solutions around the room. We performed a variation of Vote With Your Feet when I had you stand by the person whose statement was similar to yours.

Vote With Your Feet allows a teacher to assess all students’ level of understanding or misconception quickly based upon student votes. This strategy engages students in learning by allowing them to physically move to a location to demonstrate their knowledge or opinion.

To implement this strategy, watch it in action below.

Extra, Extra, Prep

We would love to offer you an extra hour of prep AGAIN! Extra, Extra Prep will be available the week of February 19-23.

A few reminders:

      ·       This is optional. You are not required to take an extra prep.

      ·       This is for salary staff, however, if an hourly staff needs additional time, please see your dean.

      ·       We will do our very best to make sure that you get your hour prep, however, if too many people call off on a particular day, we may need to reschedule your extra prep.

      ·       It’s our desire to do this at least once a trimester as long as subs are available.

If you are a salary staff member and would like to have an extra hour of prep, please follow the steps below.

      1.     Click on this sign-up sheet by 3:45 on Wednesday, February 14.

      2.     Pick one time slot.

      3.     Prepare lesson plans for a sub.

Finalized schedule will be emailed Friday, February 16. We hope this “extra” prep in addition to the extra prep during dismissal and ½ days will continue to reinforce how much the leadership values you!

NHA's Multi-Media Project

NHA will be sending a member of their communication team to Keystone this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. He will be interviewing parents, staff, and students to gain an understanding of what makes Keystone great! In addition, he will be videotaping our morning assembly and classroom instruction. The video footage will appear on our social media platforms, our school website, and other media outlets. Please give him a warm Keystone welcome if you see him.

Coffee Truck

MEEMIC will be providing us with a coffee truck on Tuesday. Please go to the playground between 7-9 AM to get a hot beverage. If you don’t have prep before 9AM, please make sure you get here early enough to get your beverage before 7:40. We don’t have anyone who can “deliver” beverages to classrooms.

Lunch on Wednesday

NEW DATE! NHA has a partnership with Grand Canyon University. This partnership allows staff to pursue certification and/or degree programs at a huge, discounted rate. In conjunction with the partnership, GCU will provide the staff with pizza lunch on Wednesday. There will be a representative in the staff lounge to answer any questions if you are interested in learning more.
