ABCD Analysis Form

Over the past three months, team leaders and the leadership team have intentionally sought your feedback, reflected on our current practices, and discussed how we can better support you in managing student behaviors.

As a result of this work, we created a new ABCD analysis form to better equip you to identify patterns and understand triggers before moving to a Behavior Motivation Analysis (BMA).

Our new ABCD form provides a structured way to document:

      ·       A – Antecedent: What happened immediately before the behavior?

      ·       B – Behavior: What did the student do?

      ·       C – Consequence: What happened as a result of the student’s behavior?

      ·       D – Discipline: What adult action was taken in response to the student’s behavior?

Completing the ABCD analysis for repeat offenders ensures that when you move to a BMA, you are working from patterns and facts. The form also allows you to track multiple incidents in one place, making trends easier to identify.

You can access and download the new ABCD form here. If you need assistance with completing the form, you can use these step-by-step instructions.

We know that addressing repeat offenders can be challenging, and we are committed to equipping you with practical tools that make this work clearer and more manageable.

Regional PD

The leadership team wanted to provide you with an opportunity to slow down, recharge, and take care of yourself amidst the busy school year. We are excited to offer a sound bath experience for our staff during Regional PD. A sound bath is a guided relaxation session where gentle, resonant sounds from instruments (singing bowls, gongs, and chimes) help calm the mind, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. You don’t need any experience—just bring a yoga mat, towel, or blanket to the music room for your assigned 30-minute session.

We hope you take this time to fully immerse yourself in the experience and let the sounds guide you to a place of calm and restoration. If you are interested, you can sign up by clicking HERE.

If all spaces are filled, please contact Robyn M and she will work to get you a spot.

Don’t miss this opportunity because YOU deserve this moment of relaxation!Top of FormBottom of Form

February Staff Fun

The leadership team isn’t done providing you with fun experiences, and we hope our efforts show how much we appreciate all that you do!

On February 17, join us for Random Acts of Kindness Day by participating in a Kindness Challenge. By the end of the day on February 17:

     1.    give one genuine compliment

     2.    help someone without being asked

     3.    thank someone you don’t usually talk to

If you complete all three random acts of kindness, grab a colored heart from the shelf on the mailboxes and attach it on your door to inspire others—because kindness is contagious!

Then, on February 20, celebrate National Comfy Day by dressing down in school-appropriate comfy clothes. We know that for many of you, a comfy day is EVERYTHING because it makes the workday a little more enjoyable while you do the incredible work you always do.

The leadership team is so grateful for all of you and remains committed to continuing to find meaningful and intentional ways to show it. We appreciate Stacey Reed for planning both these events.

ABCDE Goal-Behavior

We all use academic data to identify the specific standards and skills a student needs for academic intervention. As we discussed at our staff meeting, the same approach applies to students who struggle behaviorally—especially repeat offenders. The first step is to review behavioral data in MyNHA’s People Management (see image below) and conduct an ABCD analysis.

Then follow the steps in this Behavior Motivation document to analyze patterns. This will allow you to address repeat behaviors thoughtfully, so your interventions are intentional, impactful, and support positive change.

To paraphrase Albert Einstein, if your current approach isn’t working, it’s time to try something different.

Affirmations

Stacey and Tameka for serving as acting principals during my absences. I love that I never have to worry when I am away.

Stacey Reed for all the goodies (tea and chips) this week. I truly appreciate you spoiling me!

Ellen and Stacey Reed for providing me with the “famous women” for the phone cast. I can’t wait to use them during Women’s History Month.

Tracy for all your hard work on submitting our Green School application.

Sarah G., Cindy, and Alex for presenting and/or sharing at our staff meeting. Your contributions help make our team and school even stronger.

My February Friend for all the thoughtful gifts and special notes over the past two weeks. You have gone above and beyond, and you’ve truly made me feel special.

Staff Fun

Monday, February 9: Staff Twin Day
Coordinate with one or more staff members to dress alike. The bigger the group and the crazier the outfit, the more memorable you will look.

Tuesday, February 10: Inside-Out/Backwards Day
Wear your clothes inside-out or backwards and proceed as if everything is perfectly normal.

Wednesday, February 11: Dress Like a Pun
Pick a pun and dress to represent it—literally. The goal is to look confusing to students but hilarious to adults who get it. An example would be “Smarty Pants” by taping Smarties candy to your pants.

Thursday, February 12: Show Some Love or Anti-Valentine’s Day
Staff can either “Show Some LOVE” by wearing the same attire as students or embrace Anti-Valentine’s Day and dress in the opposite style. Think dark colors, goth vibes, etc.

Friday, February 13: Accessory Overload
Go all out with accessories—scarves, hats, necklaces, bracelets, sunglasses, or any silly props. The more, the better!

Staff Meeting Agenda

Starting at 3:45 on Tuesday, please go to the staff lounge to sign in, pick up documents, and grab some snacks. Our staff meeting will begin promptly at 4:00 pm in the technology room.

You may click HERE for the agenda.

Black History Month

In recognition of Black History Month, I encourage each homeroom to do an activity each week in honor of Black History Month. Please make sure to focus on the accomplishments and achievements of African Americans, instead of the difficulties that were/are endured. We would like to reserve those topics (slavery, Civil Rights Movements, etc.) for 5th and 8th grade where there are standards and resources to support the accuracy and sensitivity that is required to teach these topics.

Furthermore, I want to encourage you to go beyond African American athletics, actors, musicians, and those whom students are already familiar with (MLK, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, etc.). Instead introduce students to scientists, lawyers, inventors, entrepreneurs, etc. that will broaden their knowledge of the contributions made by so many other African Americans.

Lastly, please invite me into your classroom when you are doing these activities so I can take pictures and include them in the Sunday night phone cast and on our social media pages.

February 13 PD

Our ½ day on Friday is our annual reunification training. All staff (hourly, salary, SFE, and Aramark) need to attend to learn/review our reunification plan. Please bring your red emergency bag containing an updated emergency contact list to the gym presentation. See the schedule below.

11:45-12:15           Lunch on your own

12:15-1:15             Reunification Review (Gym)

1:15-3:15               Extra Prep (Enjoy ðŸ˜Š)

Four years later and the leadership team is still upholding our promise to you. We are providing you with two hours of additional planning time, which is ½ hour more than normal. We hope the additional 6.5 hours of prep that our half days provide reaffirm that “you matter!”

ABCDE Goal-Attendance

Congratulations to Mrs. Higgins’ class for spelling the word, HERE and Ms. Laurinec’s class for spelling the word, ATTENDANCE

Affirmations
