Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences

One of our Core Values is “Make our schools the best choice for parents and students.” Thank you for doing this EVERYDAY, especially as we prepare for P-T conferences. Please click here for our expectations pertaining to discussing students’ academic performance, attendance, retention, and scheduling.

As a reminder, salary staff are expected to stay until 8:00 pm on Monday. The PTO will be providing a meal on both days.

DON’T FORGET:

During conferences, teachers must review our Parent-School Compact with each family as a requirement of our grants compliance.  Use the sign-in sheet to track each family you review the contract with. Stacey Reed will send a copy of the contract and the sign-in sheet that should be used.  Please put your name on the sheet and submit completed sheets to Stacey Reed after your last conference is held.

Extra, Extra Prep

We would love to offer you an extra hour of prep this trimester! Extra, Extra Prep will be available the week of November 3-7. We hope this will either help you finalize grades, prepare for conferences, change your bulletin board, and/or complete other tasks.

Please note:

       ·        This is for salary staff, however, if an hourly staff needs additional time, please see your dean.

       ·        We will do our very best to make sure that you get your prep(s), however, if too many people call off on a particular day, we may need to reschedule your extra prep.

       ·        It’s our desire to do this at least once a trimester as long as subs are available.

If you are a classroom teacher and would like to have an extra hour of prep, please follow the steps below.

     1.    Click on this sign-up sheet by 3:45 on Tuesday, October 28.

     2.    Pick one time slot.

     3.    Prepare lesson plans for a sub.

Finalized schedule will be emailed Friday, October 31.

Core Values-BWC

One of our Core Values is Behave With Care. As we approach the holiday season, I wanted to remind you of our expectations. As we show respect and care for all our students and families, please refrain from having Halloween and/or Christmas themed activities/décor/parties. These are probably the two holidays that cause the most discomfort for families who do not celebrate.

Instead, focus on the seasons by having fall and winter themed activities. I follow this guidance when I decorate the front office. I’m very conscience about only using pumpkins that aren’t jack ‘o lanterns and trees that don’t contain ornaments. When we do recognize these holidays with “trunk or treat” or decorate a tree ornament, it is always optional and not completed during school hours.

Please let me know if you have any questions as we respect our diverse population of students.

Level 2 Support

Thank you for continuing to lead with heart, empathy, and professionalism as you handle Level 2 behaviors. At our staff meeting, I reviewed the many ways our ABSS and deans are willing to support you. However, the slide was a bit of a visual challenge, so I thought you deserved a version that won’t make you squint.

Welcome to the Team

We have hired a new recess aide, Mackenzie Delauder. Mackenzie is a former Keystone student who is happy to return as a staff member. She is expected to start on Monday. Please welcome her back to Keystone!

ABCDE Goals-Attendance

Congratulations to Ms. Patton’s class for spelling the word, PRESENT.

Affirmations

Stephanie, Stacey Ramirez, Stacey Reed, Tameka, Robyn, Sally, Jen H, Kim J and Stefanie for the thoughtfulness and care you all showed me on Boss’s Day. You caught me by surprise because I didn’t even realize it was Boss’s Day! From my favorite breakfast to lunch, every gesture made me feel incredibly appreciated and valued. Your kindness went far beyond a simple surprise—it reminded me how lucky I am to work alongside such a thoughtful, caring, and amazing team. Thank you for making me feel so special; it means more to me than words can express.

Sally for leading our half-day professional development and guiding teachers through a deeper understanding of the Teaching competency on the new evaluation rubric. Your clarity, preparation, and supportive approach helped everyone feel more confident and informed. We appreciate the time and care you put into making this learning meaningful and relevant for our team!

Robyn for the content you provided for our half-day PD, especially during such a difficult time with your family. Your dedication and thoughtfulness, even while navigating personal challenges, truly show your commitment to supporting our team.

Jen H and Kim J for your collaborative approach to Level 2 behaviors and for highlighting the staff members who make a positive impact on our students. Through modeling effective strategies it strengthens the culture of collaboration and excellence in our school.

Kim J for creating a document that captures data and next steps for our Behavior Support Team meetings.

Ellen, Andria, Cindy, Jane, Sally, Christina, Laurie, and Amanda for attending our Family Math Night! I truly appreciate you staying after school to spend time with our families to support student learning. You embody our Core Value of making our school the best choice for parents and students.

Stephanie for taking care of purchasing all the items and setting up the treat cart. I honestly don’t know how I would have managed this without you! Your thoughtfulness, organization, and willingness to go above and beyond is truly appreciated.

Taylor for not only monitoring absences but also personally reaching out to parents about early dismissals and tardies. You do this not out of obligation, but because you truly understand how attendance affects student learning.

Student Dress Code

As we continue greeting students each morning, it’s important that we all consistently check for dress code compliance. While many staff members are doing a great job reinforcing expectations, others may not be addressing them as regularly. Some parents have expressed concerns that enforcement feels inconsistent and that certain students are being singled out.

To prevent any perception of bias, please ensure that as you greet students, you are also checking for dress code compliance so that our enforcement remains fair and equitable. Let’s work together to send a unified message that our expectations matter and apply to every student, every day.

Staff Meeting

Starting at 3:45 on Tuesday, please go to the staff lounge to sign in, pick up documents, and grab some snacks. Our staff meeting will begin promptly at 4:00 pm in the technology room.

You may click HERE for the agenda.

1/2 Day PD

Three years later and the leadership team is still upholding our promise to you. We are providing you with an hour and half additional planning time during our ½ day PD on Wednesday.

You will spend the first two hours going through the teaching competency of the new Classroom Framework. You can view the agenda by clicking HERE. The second hour and a half you can prep/plan at your discretion. However, all salary staff must remain in the building until 3:30 PM, hourly staff do not attend.

We hope the additional 6 hours of prep that our half days provide reaffirm that “you matter!”

Fundraiser Dress Down Days

Our students raised $18, 500 for our fall fundraiser. In appreciation, they have earned two dress down days:

·      October 23: Pajama Day

·      October 30: Dress Down Day

We appreciate the staff for your support as you promoted the fundraiser in your weekly communication—so staff can participate in these two dress down days too!

ABCDE Goals-Attendance

Congratulations to Ms. Good-Lang’s and Mrs. Shroff’s classes for spelling the word, HERE. Mrs. Khafagi’s, Mrs. Baker’s, and Ms. Laurinec’s classes also spelled the word, PRESENT!

I’m so excited to see so many classrooms earning letters for perfect attendance! I can’t wait to see which class will be the first to spell ATTENDANCE.

We’ve never had this many classrooms make such incredible strides so early in the school year. I’m already anticipating having to use our attendance slogan as the next phrase after ATTENDANCE—what an amazing problem to have!

Affirmations

Tameka and Stacey Ramirez for ensuring dress down passes were available.

Sally for gathering data to increase instructional rigor.

Stacey Reed for writing 6 IEPs and attending 9 IEP meetings this week. I have no idea how you do it all.

Robyn M and Sally for working together to create a schedule that is best for students.

Jen D, Alex, Jane, Ellen, Stacey Reed, and Sally for coming prepared to a parent meeting with documentation and care.

Steve for converting music for me once again.

The board game–themed bulletin board was absolutely adorable and creative—it captured students’ attention and reinforced the message in such a fun, meaningful way.

Robyn P and Danielle D for supporting paperwork to help keep things on track.

Danielle D, Gloria, Robyn M, Tameka, Sandy, Kim B, Lisa, and Theresa for being willing to sub the past two weeks! Your willingness to help wherever needed truly keeps our school running smoothly.

Tracy for fixing the recess equipment box.

Stephanie for making sure our students received the Fun Friday award.

Taylor making our monthly perfect attendance award for our students so special. I know it wasn’t easy making fresh cotton candy for almost 300 students, but I am grateful that you had Danielle D willing to help you out.
