Moral Focus-Gratitude

Help us show GRATITUDE for the month of November! Has someone helped you with something and you would like to thank them and show your gratitude?  Find someone on this Google Sheet and write a short explanation of why you are grateful for them. We will provide a jeans pass to any staff member who gets recognized.  If someone already was gifted a jeans pass, please choose someone else. It’s our desire to show gratitude to EVERYONE!

Big shout out to Andria for coming up with this idea!

Achievement Boards

It’s time to change your bulletin boards. Achievement Boards are due November 12.

Make sure to include the following when posting your Achievement Board:

    ·     Title

    ·     Objective written as an I Can Statement

    ·     Standard (Common Core, NGSS, etc.)

    ·     Student work

    ·     Specific feedback for each student. Please write more than “Good job!”

Please note: if the student work has a score on it, take off the student's name before displaying it. If the student’s work does not have a score on it, it is acceptable to post the student's name.

ESSER Funds Feedback

Our school received funding through federal legislation to be spent over the next three years, called ESSER (Elementary & Secondary School Emergency Relief) funds. These funds are meant to address the academic learning loss and social-emotional needs of our school community due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds are accessible to prevent, prepare, and respond to COVID-19 and your opinion matters! We will be gathering staff, parent, and school board input as we decide how to best utilize these funds.

For a more thorough overview of ESSER, check out this presentation.

Please let us know your thoughts on how to spend our ESSER funds by completing this survey.

M-STEP Results

2020-21 M-STEP results are no longer embargoed, and despite the challenges of last year, we did really well in comparison to our 2018-19 results AND we continue to outperform all the local districts in our area. We had 88% participation rates compared to only 72% participation statewide. This makes our data more accurate than what many other schools report.

I am so proud of Keystone! I can only expect that if we keep doing what we are doing, we are poised to continue to close the gap academically and increase our proficiency rate.

Gift Ideas

Every year, our board gives us a gift for the holidays. This gift has to come out of their marketing budget, so it usually contains either our school’s name or logo on it. This year, they want suggestions from the staff. Keep in mind that they purchase a gift for 65 people, so be mindful of the cost. Please complete the survey if you have any ideas for this year’s holiday gift.

Day of Awesomeness

Let’s try this again! We look forward to celebrating our students’ efforts with our fall fundraiser on Wednesday during our Day of Awesomeness. K-2 students get an hour, and 3-8 students get an hour and half to do a variety of activities. If it rains on Wednesday, the Day of Awesomeness will be in the gym. Each class will get 45 minutes during their normal special time.

To accommodate this special event, we had to make some adjustments:

    ·     Lunch will be in classrooms supervised by teachers

    ·     No recess (since they will be outside for over an hour)

    ·     Teachers will still receive their prep.

o  Since this event doesn’t start until 9:45, 5th and 6th grade teachers’ prep will be normal. They will take their students to the specials teacher’s classroom during their normal prep time. Everyone else will take their students outside for prep following the schedule.

It’s important that you review the schedule and notes below. Let me know if you have any questions prior to the event.

Happy Birthday

Kim J: October 25

There is a special gift in the mailboxes of all the people who celebrate their birthdays in November.

Core Values-BWC

We are at that time in the school year where students are starting to get comfortable. That comfortability can be good and/or bad. As we move into next week, I encourage you to find that one child who may get under your skin, cause extra challenges to your classroom environment, or the child that sits quietly to themselves and make it a point to interact with them on a daily basis. Work to build a strong relationship with this student. In my 18 years of education, I’ve noticed that those students who make a change for the better are the ones who had at least one person take the time to build a relationship with them. BE THAT PERSON!

Virtual Instruction

Don’t forget to monitor student behavior when they are on their Chromebooks using GoGuardian using the CLEVER tile. From there select your class and you will be able to view all students’ screens. Please reference Steve’s video for more features.

Please make sure you complete the mock virtual week survey by Sunday letting me know which subject you will be teaching virtually next week.
