Staff Fun-Compassion Bingo

It’s time for staff funAGAIN!

To help us continue to be a team that supports (and likes each other), let’s play Compassion Bingo. On Monday, April 1, there will be a bingo card in your mailbox for a chance to win a $50 gift card.

Why did you choose Keystone?

Did you get a chance to view the first short video in the series. In the first video students, staff, and families respond to the question, “Why did you choose Keystone?” It really warms your heart to hear the great things that people have to say about our school. Check it out below.

Trimester 3 Assessment Reflection Questions

You have the choice between proficiency or growth for Trimester 3 when responding to your assessment data. If you would like to change your focus, please take this survey indicating your selection by 4 PM on Tuesday, April 2. You will only take the survey if your focus is changing.

If you do not respond by the deadline, you will automatically default to your Trimester 2 focus. Please note that selections cannot be changed after the deadline. No exceptions.

As a reminder, if you select proficiency, you do not have to track your data, NHA does that for you. However, if your focus is growth, you need to continue completing the tracking sheet after each assessment. Please click here to access Tracy’s video to help simplify the tracking sheet process.

If your class reaches their expected proficiency—75% (advanced) and 50% (standard), then you do not have to complete the questions for that assessment. However, those that selected growth would still need to complete the tracking sheet after every assessment regardless of your proficiency score.

Please reach out if you have any questions prior to making your selection because again no changes can be made after the deadline.

We hope this continues to show you that we value your feedback and respond accordingly!

ABCDE Goal-Attrition

Last week, I discussed our attrition goal asking for staff to share how they live out one of our Core Values, “Make our school the best choice for parents and students.” Thank you to Tracy, Teri, Jen D, and Danielle for sharing best practices. For the next few weeks, I will be sharing their approach to retaining students. This week, I will be highlighting Teri’s strategies.

2024-25 School Calendar

Utilize our approved 2024-25 school calendar here to help you plan for the summer and next school year. Please note that additional events will be added over the summer and throughout the school year.

Please do not share this with families yet, I am waiting for NHA to post it to our school website.

ABCDE Goal-Attendance

Congratulations to Mrs. Shroff’s class for spelling the word ATTENDANCE. They are the first class to reach this level.

Also, congratulations to Ms. Patton’s class for spelling PRESENT and Ms. Williams class for spelling HERE. Let’s keep this momentum going!

Welcome to the Team

We have two new staff members starting next week. Please give a warm welcome to Mario Bynum, our new intervention paraprofessional, and Lynn Phetteplace our new Middle School Math TIR. Lynn starts on Monday and Mario on Wednesday.

15-Minute O3s

It’s time for our last round of 15-minute O3s.

As you know, these O3s give both of us an opportunity to connect. As often as I am in classrooms seeing the great things that you all are doing, I don’t get to hear how you are feeling about everything. Please come to the O3 willing to share with me one thing that you like about Keystone and one thing that if we changed would improve Keystone.

I am asking ALL staff members to please use this link to sign up by Tuesday, March 19.

The 15-minute O3s will occur the week of April 8-12. I will be sending out calendar invites on Friday, March 22. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Schoolwide Goal-Attrition

Another one of our schoolwide goals is to decrease attrition by 1% each year. At this time, we have not met this goal as we have a slight increase from last year. However, I am optimistic that we can achieve a decrease by the end of the year. What things do you do in your classroom beyond what’s expected to support our attrition goal? Those who respond to this question will receive something in appreciation. I would love to share your best practices at an upcoming staff meeting.

School Goals-Behavior

Thank you to everyone for fulfilling one of our school goals, Teachers will ensure all students receive at least one positive behavior (affirmation) in MyNHA per trimester.” I appreciate those who completed it for Trimester 2. I am proud to see that what we are doing is working! Our negative behaviors have decreased significantly from the first trimester. In Trimester 1 we had 845 behavior incidents and in Trimester 2 we had 578. That’s 267 less incidents from Tri 1 to 2.

We are making progress to yield similar results in comparison to last school year. Last month, we only had 8 more behavior incidents (YTD) and only one more in January (YTD). Please continue to recognize positive behaviors, so students will be encouraged to exemplify the behaviors that you want to see.

Core Values

One of our Core Values is “Do the right thing always.” It’s important to live this value out consistently. One way to do that is to sit with your students during morning assembly every Monday and Friday, as expected. With parents attending assembly, it’s critical that you are right next to your students to encourage them to behave in a manner that represents our moral focus virtues. Thank you for consistently making decisions found in NHA’s core values.

COVID Guidelines

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has new COVID guidance that we are required to follow. They are classifying COVID as a common respiratory viral illness, along with the flu and RSV. In such, they/we are no longer requiring 5 days quarantine for those who test positive for COVID. You only need to be fever free for 24 hours and show signs of improvement.
