As I mentioned during August PD, we have three short-term school goals this school year. You are a critical component of us achieving our first goal of students articulating the daily learning objectives while teachers use formative assessments to determine mastery. We want our efforts to result in 70% of students scoring 80% or higher on weekly common assessments.
The
first step in achieving our goal is to provide students an opportunity to
articulate the kid-friendly learning objectives that you have posted. When
doing admin observations, we will check for students’ understanding by simply
asking them, “What are you learning about today?”
Once
you have mastered this step, feel free to move on to providing your students
with a formative assessment (exit ticket) after each lesson to ensure understanding of the
concept(s) taught. More about this step on next week’s blog.
